CAN-SPAM Policy
Last updated: May 2025
CAN-SPAM Act Overview
The CAN-SPAM Act establishes requirements for commercial email messages sent to recipients in the United States. Email List Database supports CAN-SPAM-aligned outreach practices and requires customers using our databases to comply with the CAN-SPAM Act.
Customer Responsibilities
Customers who use Email List Database contact data for email outreach must:
- Use accurate "From," "To," and routing information
- Use non-deceptive subject lines that reflect message content
- Clearly identify the message as an advertisement where applicable
- Include a valid physical postal address
- Provide a clear and conspicuous opt-out mechanism in every email
- Honor opt-out requests within 10 business days
- Maintain their own suppression lists and honor opt-outs promptly
B2B Email Outreach
The CAN-SPAM Act applies to commercial email messages. While many B2B transactional emails may have exemptions, Email List Database recommends all customers follow CAN-SPAM best practices for all email outreach regardless of message type, as a matter of professional practice and deliverability.
Opt-Out Processing
Email List Database maintains an opt-out request system. Individuals who have received outreach using our databases and wish to be excluded from future contact may submit a request via our Opt-Out Request page.
